For a Limited Time Only - UY TV 1 DVD and/or YUA DVD 1 for only 99 cents!
For a limited time, order a copy of Urusei Yatsura TV 1 DVD or You're Under Arrest DVD 1, each of which has 4 complete episodes, and you'll automatically get a $7.00 discount when you check out. Total cost to you -- just less than a buck per DVD!

The fine print: Limit 1 discount per customer per series. Watching UY may cause almost instant Lumophilia, which can only be cured by buying the other 49 TV DVDs, plus the Movies and OVAs. Excessive consumption of YUA may cause you to take up a career in law enforcement, become a cross-dresser, or both. Normal shipping and handling charges apply. Due to the demand for these items, we may occasionally run short, resulting in shipping delays; if so, we'll let you know.
April 29th, 2010 - Yawara Status Update
We know that many of you have been anxiously awaiting news about the future of Yawara. It is with deep regret that we must announce that so far, we have not been able to secure a license to release the rest of the series.

If conditions change and it becomes possible to obtain a license, we will certainly do so. Everyone at AnimEigo loves Yawara and wants to continue work on the series.
April 19th, 2010 - New Staff Member Makes Her Debut
We are pleased to announce the arrival of our newest staff member, Jenna Lauren Engelmann, born April 16th, and weighing in at 6lbs, 11oz. Mother and daughter are doing fine; father Bobby somewhat worse for wear.
April 15th, 2010 - Two new licenses!
We're pleased to announce the licensing of the following two titles. Hopefully this news will dull the cutting pain of Tax Day.

Samurai Vendetta: A Chronicle of Pale Cherry Blossoms (Hakuoki), directed by Kazuo MORI and starring Raizo ICHIKAWA and Shintaro KATSU. The film that made Katsu a star, it is a tragic tale of two swordsmen whose clans are embroiled in a blood feud, and who vie for the same woman. Betrayal, dishonor and death ensue.

Shinsengumi Chronicles: I Want To Die A Samurai (Shinsengumi Shimatsuki), directed by Kenji MISUMI and starring Tomisaburo WAKAYAMA (under his alias, Kenzaburo JO) and Raizo ICHIKAWA. Raizo stars as a honest man who joins the Shinsengumi out of admiration for its leader, Isami KONDO (Wakayama), and because he wants to die as a samurai.

More details, such as release dates, when we have them firmed up.
April 1st, 2010 - NO JOKE this year.
As long-time AnimEigo fans know, every year we put up a silly news story on April 1st.

Well, this year there will be NO JOKE. We are sure that those that subscribe to our Twitter feed will understand where we're coming from.

February 2nd, 2010 - Oh My Goddess! going Out-Of-Print on 02-28-2010
Barring divine intervention, our license for Oh My Goddess! expires at the end of the month. We still have some copies of the 2-disc collector's edition and the original discs in stock, and we've reduced the price to clear them out. Supplies are limited, so if you want to make room for 3 Goddesses and 1 nerd in your Anime collection, now's the time!
January 20th, 2010 - We finally succumb and join Twitter
Yes, it's true. AnimEigo now has a Twitter Account, which means that Twitter is now officially not trendy anymore.

Rumor has it that those foolish enough to follow us on Twitter will not only get exclusive updates on what we're up to, but also special limited time coupon codes that can be entered during checkout for big savings on whatever we have too much of our hottest titles!
December 18th, 2009: Annual AnimEigo Holiday Break
Just ask anyone who works here (especially the management) - the hours are horrible, the working conditions are terrible, and we'd be paid in Quatloos if the government let Natsumi get away with it.

But there is one perk to slaving away subtitling films all year long -- the Annual AnimEigo Solstice Sabbatical. From 12/24 to 01/04, the lights are off, the thermostat is turned down, and the only sound to be heard at the AnimEigo offices is the shivering and bitching of the one Ninja who drew the short straw and got stuck with the job of guarding the place.

Which means that any orders received after Noon Eastern Time on Wednesday, 12/23 will not be processed and shipped until January 4th, 2010. So if you like us and want to get some DVDs before we close down, please get your orders in now.

And if you hate us but still want to get some DVDs before we close down, make huge orders at 11:50 AM ET on Wednesday...
December 3rd, 2009: We make Arben an offer he can't refuse!
Just last night, as I was tucking the minions into their beds, I got an email asking when Onimasa would be available. Well, as a favor to you, Arben, we're making it available right now.

But remember, Arben... Some day, and that day may never come, we will call upon you to do a service for us...
October 29th, 2009: Tora-san wanders into the warehouse
Given that he's visited just about every other place in the world over 48 movies, we shouldn't have been surprised that Tora-san found his way here. We were so entertained by his patter that we ended up buying thousands of copies of a box set containing his first four movies. He also told Natsumi to look him up in Shibamata if she ever needed a hand. Hmmm....
September 17th, 2009: Black Rain Arrives
We are pleased to announce the arrival and availability of Shohei Imamura's searing portrait of the destruction of Hiroshima and its aftermath, Black Rain. This DVD is loaded with extras, including the rarely seen color alternate ending.
August 11th, 2009: Buy Ninjas in Bulk, Save Big!

Now you can satisfy your need for some good cinematic skulking at a great price with the Shinobi no Mono Box Set #1, starring Raizo Ichikawa as not one, but two famous ninjas! And if you've already bought the singles, you can get a free box too!

June 27th, 2009: Nihilism is the new Black

He knows no past, and wants no future -- but you want to buy the Sleepy Eyes of Death Collector's Box #1, starring Raizo Ichikawa as the amoral master of the Full Moon Cut Technique!

April 24th, 2009: Those pesky ninja are back!

Last week we finally got the last of the ronin to stop bothering us (with a little help from all the people who ordered the DVD), but we have had little time to relax, because now the office is infested with another plague of Ninja. Shinobi no Mono 4 - Siege (starring Raizo Ichikawa!) has arrived in the office.

It's hard to get work done when you're constantly looking over your shoulder, and every time someone takes a nap, the ninja try to drip poison down threads from the ceiling, so we'd really appreciate it if you could help us clear out the warehouse in the usual way.

April 1st, 2009: April Fools postponed until later in the year.

It is with great sadness that we must report to you today that AnimEigo's annual and much-anticipated April Fools posting has been postponed, a victim of the economic uncertainty plaguing the nation.

In normal times, we would spend hundreds of man-hours and tens of thousands of dollars coming up with our annual joke -- in fact, it's pretty much all we work on the first 3 months of the year.

However, these are not normal times, and we made the hard decision to economize. The tipping point was when we realized that if we wanted to do the joke on schedule, we'd have to either fire Bobby or institute a company-wide policy banning extra shots in the morning cappuchinos. We want you to know that it was a close call, but the incessant weeping and unconsolable sobbing coming from his office finally got to us -- not to mention the headaches they caused were worse than caffeine withdrawl.

Therefore, we have rescheduled the joke for later in the year; exactly when depends on how sales go.

Needless to say, the uncertainty about when our prank will appear will probably have negative effects on the entire economy, the humorous equivalent of the Paradox of Thrift. We're sorry about that, but what can you expect from a company like ours?

So when you see an announcement from us that makes you think "That's too good to be true!", well, it just might be. Or it might not. Sometimes even we can't tell the difference.
